Sagemont Lions, and Tigers, and Bears... Oh My!!

Today, our fourth grade students got an opportunity to visit Zoo Miami. Continuing their fourth grade study of Florida, the students visited Mission Everglades to see animals native to Florida including alligators, panthers, birds, and bears. Students were also able to learn about conservation efforts for Florida’s endangered animals.

The students got to explore all parts of the zoo. In their journey throughout the zoo, each student filled out a scavenger hunt and read about key information on each of the animals.  We enjoyed hearing about all of the new information the students learned from reading about the animals.

Fourth Grade is Freezing with Fun

Our fourth graders were bored stiff (**see what I did there**) at recess. What better way to add some life to recess than to participate in the Mannequin Challenge.  If only they would stay this still all of the time!!!!!!

When I Grow Up....

Career Day is such a great way to help students answer the age-old question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”  Today fourth graders got to hear from Dr. Delgado (C.O.O. of Cleveland Clinic), Dr. Coletti (Dentist), Mr. Page (Air Traffic Controller), Ms. Romaniw (Toastmaster), Mr. Napoleon (Entrepreneur), and Mr. Arango (Computer & Electrical Engineer). The students had a great day and learned many life skills.

Serving Our Community

The students concluded their fourth grade community service project by delivering supplies to the Humane Society of Broward County. From November through December, students collected supplies including treats, toys, milk replacers, blankets, and towels to benefit the animals. After the supplies were delivered, the students got to learn all about the Humane Society and animal care. They toured the cattery and kennels to see how their supplies were going to be used to help the animals. It was a PUUURRRRRFECT way to be a good community servant.

Sagemont Fitness Run

Today was a beautiful day for the fourth graders to participate in the Sagemont Fitness Run. Our lucky 10 year olds got to run one mile, while our 9 years olds ran ½ a mile. This run is part of the Presidential Fitness Program which tests the fitness abilities of children in the United States.

The students all had fun while getting fit.

20 Years of Sagemont

In November, Sagemont celebrated its 20 year anniversary. We had an assembly complete with a chorus performance, cheerleaders doing cheers, and dance party.
No birthday is complete without cupcakes. Students on both campuses received a cupcake to celebrate.

It was such a fun day! Happy Birthday, Sagemont J

Very Presidential

Since presidency began in 1789, 43 people have been called President of the United States (for those of you fact checking, Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms which is why President Obama is the 44th president not the 43rd ). These 43 men have shaped the United States in many ways (mostly for the better).

For Family Night, our 4th graders worked on a president project. Each student was assigned a president to research. They compiled a research paper and created a look-alike presentation board. The students shared all about their president to the entire fourth grade and all of the boards were displayed at Family Night.  The students did a phenomenal job.
