It’s Okay to Be Different in Art

Ms. Perez has created a school-wide project based on the children’s book It’s Okay to be Different by Todd Parr. Each class got an opportunity to read the book and see the uniquely bright illustrations. The book teaches students a message of self-worth, being proud of themselves, and accepting differences of all kinds.

The students painted three sections of a paper with secondary colors made from primary colors of their choice and one section with a primary color of their choice.

After the paint dried, students drew and cut out the shapes to make a self-portrait collage.

Each of the student’s self-portrait collages will be used to create a school-wide collaborative mural. Keep an eye out for where this beautiful mural might show up!
